Beyond the properties and stays.
The island we love.
We've lived here long enough to know which beach to visit on a Tuesday, where locals actually eat and which sunset spot has no crowds. We share all of it — plus a few things we've created ourselves.

best beaches
Our sunsoaked guide
to the coastline.
Tenerife has dozens of beaches. These are the ones worth the trip — each one chosen for a different reason, from the dramatic to the calm to the just-around-the-corner perfect.
5 min - Puerto santiago
Playa de la Arena
The closest great beach to Los Gigantes and arguably the finest on the west coast. Black volcanic sand, crystal-clear water and a relaxed promenade lined with restaurants. The only beach in Tenerife to hold the prestigious Q de Calidad Turística — a Spanish tourism quality mark that is not easy to earn. Calm enough for families, stunning enough for everyone.

85 min - Santa Cruz area
Playa de las Teresitas
One of Tenerife's most iconic beaches — a long stretch of golden Saharan sand imported from the African coast, sheltered by a breakwater that keeps the water calm. Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop near Santa Cruz. Worth the drive for a full day out.

45 min - South East coast
El Médano
The watersports capital of Tenerife. Consistent Atlantic winds make this the island's best spot for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. A lively beach town with a great local atmosphere, bohemian cafés and a long natural beach. Not for sunbathing on a windy day — but for water action, nowhere else comes close.

120 min - anaga peninsula
Playa de Benijo
Wild, remote and unlike anything else on the island. Black volcanic sand, powerful waves and the iconic Roques de Anaga rock formations rising from the sea. No sunbeds, no beach bars — just raw Tenerife at its most dramatic. Not for swimming, but unforgettable for photography and a sense of the island's real soul.

Playa de los Guíos
The small black pebble beach right at the base of the Los Gigantes cliffs — directly below the marina. More about atmosphere than sunbathing. Crystal-clear water excellent for snorkelling, with the dramatic cliff face rising above you. Quiet, local and genuinely special.

Playa de San Juan
A wide bay with calm waters protected by the harbour, perfect for swimming year-round — and genuinely one of the most authentic spots on the west coast. A real Canarian fishing village with character, a Blue Flag beach, and a promenade lined with terraces and restaurants serving fresh fish straight off the boats. One of the most beautiful sunsets in Tenerife.

Aqua Restaurant
Just ten tables for evening dining — one of the most intimate and romantic restaurants in Tenerife. The brainchild of Belgian-raised chef Lucas Maes, with haute cuisine built around local Canarian ingredients and views straight over the cliffs and La Gomera. Book well in advance — and don't skip the tasting menu.

La Pérgola
Directly above Las Bajas in Puerto de Santiago, with some of the most spectacular sunsets in the south west of Tenerife overlooking La Gomera and La Palma. Fresh local fish, live lobsters, the best local meats and home-baked desserts.
Fifteen+ years of getting it right — it shows.

Bohemian · Hidden gem · Alcalá
B on the Rocks
Tucked away in a Canarian-style mansion in the heart of Alcalá — the kind of place that regulars try hard not to tell too many people about. Pure, honest food cooked perfectly. Warm owners, curated wine list, zero pretension. Book in advance — it gets very busy in the evening.

island activities
Things to do when
the pool isn't enough.
From the dramatic cliffs to the island's volcanic heart — Tenerife rewards those who explore beyond the resort. These are our favourite ways to spend a day out.
Whale & Dolphin Watching
The waters off Los Gigantes are home to resident pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins year-round. One of the best whale-watching spots in Europe — and it's right on your doorstep. We can arrange a private or shared boat trip.
Masca Gorge & Boat
Hike down Tenerife's most spectacular gorge through volcanic rock faces and lush vegetation, then take a boat back along the cliffs to Los Gigantes. One of the island's unmissable experiences — challenging but unforgettable.
Teide National Park
Spain's highest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The cable car, the lunar landscape, the cable car to the summit if you book well in advance. Book the summit permit early — it sells out fast.
Siam Park
Voted the world's best water park multiple times. A full-day experience suitable for all ages — from toddlers to those who want to try the Tower of Power. About 30 minutes from Los Gigantes.
Boat & Jetski Hire
Explore the Los Gigantes cliffs from the water, find hidden coves only accessible by sea, or simply spend a few hours on a jetski in the Atlantic. We connect you with trusted local operators and handle the booking.
Cycling & Hiking
The west coast has excellent cycling and hiking routes — from the coastal path along the cliffs to mountain trails into the interior. We can recommend routes and arrange bike hire for any level.
